"Storm on the North Sea"
#7358PP. Circa 1853-1860. German states. Oil on canvas. Painting of ships in a North Sea storm - main ship is a hybrid sailing/steam ship. Signed lower left: F. Müller. Fritz Müller was born 1814, served as a German naval officer, emigrated to U.S. about 1860 and died during Civil War, has a painting in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC – more info on artist available. Period frame, not original is gilt and gold leaf on gesso on pine, 52" wide x 40" tall x 6" deep. Canvas: 45" wide x 30" high. Very good condition. Newly cleaned and restored. $8,800.00.
