Louis Phillipe Commode (Chest)
7743FP. Circa 1840. France. Mahogany and mahogany veneer with European oak secondary wood -- top of grey marble with white veins -- replaced solid brass ring pulls. The commode has its original French polish, which we have carefully cleaned and restored. The beautiful highly-figured grain on this commode makes it really stand out. Although it reads as a 3-drawer chest (3 drawers having pulls), it has a 4th upper drawer with finger pulls under the skirt-like drawer front. The feet and beautifully-grained marble top appear to be original. This piece has a beautiful patina -- it has wear and cracks commensurate with its age. We have done minor restoration to the veneer and finish. The marble is in excellent condition. Height: 34"; depth: 22.75"; width: 50.5". $4,600.00.
