Kittinger Colonial Williamsburg Wing Chair
#7597FP. Circa 1939. Buffalo, NY for Colonial Williamsburg. Mahogany. This chair is an exact copy of a circa:1750 New England wing chair, yet is a very comfortable chair you could sit in for hours. The original is in the collection of Colonial Williamsburg. Hand-made reproductions were produced by Kittinger as item #CW44 for Craft House, Colonial Williamsburg's official shop, over a period of many years. This is one of the older reproductions - serial #18, per the tag revealed during reupholsering. Note the branding mark on the inside of the back leg in one of the photos. Also included in the photos: a page from the 1971 Craft House catalog showing this chair, and a photo from "Behold Williamsburg" (copyright 1947) of the Apollo Room at Raleigh Tavern in Colonial Williamsburg, showing the period chair in a room setting.
