Federal Secretary/Bookcase
#6982FJ. Circa 1815. America, probably Philadelphia. Mahogany and mahogany veneer with satinwood and ebony inlay – pine and poplar secondary woods. Original glass. Old replaced hardware. This exceptional Hepplewhite secretary/bookcase features very rare drawers behind doors in the base with string inlay even on the insides of the doors. Extremely fine desk fittings( this is the best desk fittings we have ever had) including a tambour door section and hidden compartments with exquisite inlay on and around drawers. The upper section has moveable shelves. Very good condition - old and newer repairs. Very good patina. Height: 90.5" (45" desk section), Width: 43.5", Depth: 24". $16,000.00.
