Federal Wing Chair
#4922FP. Circa 1810. Probably New York City. French polished mahogany legs with original solid hand-made brass cup castors. This Sheraton wing chair is one of the best Federal wing chairs we've ever had, very similar to the chair listed as "best" on page 76 of Albert Sack's "The New Fine Points of Furniture" as well as #123 on page 171 of the Winterthur's book, "American Furniture - the Federal Period (1788-1825)." It has excellent lines and beautiful turned legs. The chair probably had a French welt seat originally, but was converted to a cushion seat in the early 20th Century. Very good condition - recently reupholstered. Height: 47" (Seat Height: 19.5"), Width: 30", Depth: 30". $11,500.00.
